Card Base – the card stock that is folded in half to be the foundation of the card

  • For A2-sized portrait layout top-folding cards, the base will measure 4.25″ x 11″ to be scored and folded at 5.5″
  • For A2-sized portrait layout side-folding cards or landscape layout top-folding cards, the base will measure 5.5″ x 8″ to be scored and folded at 4.25″

Card Front – the card stock attached to the front of the card base

  • The size of the card front varies but is less than or equal to 4.25 x 5.5

Die-cutting and embossing machines – electric or hand-cranked tools that allow for cutting cardstock in shapes using wafer-thin dies or using embossing folders to impress images on cardstock.

Dye ink – ink that dyes the paper and usually dries quickly. It can be used for stamping, stenciling, and blending (e.g. Concord and 9th inks, Pinkfresh inks)

Embossing ink – clear sticky ink that takes longer to dry. It can be used with colored cardstock to get tone-on-tone effects or with embossing powder.

Embossing powder – granular powder that when melted with a heat gun produces raised areas.

Pigment ink – ink that sits on the surface of the paper and takes longer to dry. It can be used for stamping and embossing (e.g. Versafine, Ink on 3, Altenew Crisp Ink)., some can be used with alcohol markers, watercolors, and Gamsol after they have fully dried.

Scoring Tool – tool for making straight scoring lines for folding or techniques (Score-Pal). It can also be used to line up card fronts on card bases.

Stamping platforms – alignment tools that allow you to stamp an image multiple times in exactly the same position.

I have always enjoyed sending cards to brighten someone’s day. When our world shut down, I discovered the joy of creating handmade cards!

As I get so much inspiration and joy from seeing the creations of other crafters, I wanted to have a place to share the little pieces created in my tiny crafting closet. Yes, it really is a closet.
